Welcome To The New Site

It was time to upgrade the Coffee Classics website.

Almost 20 years ago as we were getting ready to leave our store at Penn Square Mall I knew we were going to need a website to keep serving our customers. To that end I bought a license for Microsoft FrontPage. I can almost see your smiles when you read this.

I am not a computer expert and at that time I knew about as little as one can know about all things web. I had a Novell Netware 3.12 file server and 5 computers on that network. Two towers running Windows 3 (I think) and three diskless work stations set to boot to DOS 5 for our Point of Sale stations (cash registers). The workstations were running a program called PC-POS which in those days was a really nice piece of software. I think it cost us $2500.00. My wife, Sharon—I thought she was going to do me in when she found out what I had invested in that Netware server and the other computer equipment. I was so attached to PC-POS that I still have the software and an old Celeron machine to run it on, for old time sake.

Still I knew little about web sites but I was determined to use FrontPage to build the Coffee Classics website. This of course led me to: HTML3. FrontPage was considered a pretty good (for that time) HTML editor, closely related to Microsoft Word. I was a WordPerfect user so I had two hills to climb.

Eventually, I learned the basics and produced a website that served us all these years! In fact, today, it is older than some of my customers. It was way overdue to be replaced because of its many shortcomings in today’s world. In July of 2019 we were ready to introduce to our customers a new modern website that among many other things would display correctly and easily on our smart phones etc. Yay! We announced it as follows, in an email:

We have exciting news... the Coffee Classics website is ready to go live! That’s right, commencing on July 15, 2019 we will be officially moving to the all-new platform and we're sure you'll love it as much as we do!

That’s because it represents more than simply the launch of a new website. It marks the next step in the evolution of Coffee Classics into one intuitively designed digital shopping experience with a new more modern look and numerous new features including a built in shopping cart and wider range of payment choices! We now accept:

  • American Express
  • Apple Pay
  • Diners Club
  • Discover
  • Google Pay
  • JCB
  • Mastercard
  • PayPal
  • Shopify Pay
  • Venmo
  • Visa

Now, Coffee Classics will offer customers access on mobile devices and an unrivaled selection of the best specialty coffees and teas all within one easy-to-navigate website which will display correctly on a wider range of operating systems and devices. You can now sign up for an account to make your future orders easy to place.

We appreciate your comments and suggestions on the new site.
